Tram services: further routes are coming into operation

Due to the extreme heat, the road surface has softened in some places, making it unsafe for trams to operate. All tram lines are affected. Further sections of the line are being brought back into Service.

On Saturday, 11 July, the Plärrer–Westfriedhof section will come into service at around 5.00 am when operations begin. This means that our tram network will be almost fully operational again, with the exception of the Hauptbahnhof–Tiergarten section. This section will follow as soon as possible, so that the entire network will be available for scheduled tram services again in the course of next week. 

The following sections of the network – and thus almost the entire network – are currently back in service:

  • Linie 4: Gibitzenhof – Landgrabenstraße – Plärrer – Am Wegfeld
  • Section Linie 5: Worzeldorfer Straße – Frankenstraße – Aufseßplatz - Celtisplatz – Hauptbahnhof
  • Linie 6: Plärrer – Aufseßplatz - Schweiggerstraße (continues as line 8 via the main station to Erlenstegen)
  • Linie 7: Hauptbahnhof –Schweiggerstraße – Scheurlstraße - Dutzendteich
  • Linie 8: Erlenstegen - Hauptbahnhof – Widhalmstraße - Schweiggerstraße
  • Linie 10: Dutzendteich – Aufseßplatz – Plärrer – Am Wegfeld
  • Section Linie 11: Gibitzenhof – Aufseßplatz – Celtisplatz - Hauptbahnhof


Please note:

  • Trains are running according to the standard timetable at regular intervals of 10 or 20 minutes.
  • The route maps are available via the online timetable service.

Replacement buses are still operating on the remaining sections of the route. The buses stop at tram stops at the kerb or in the immediate vicinity. Tram stops in the middle of the road are not served by buses.
