Overview of ticket types
We offer tickets for all kinds of purposes: From single tickets to annual subscriptions all ranges of fares are available. Tickets can be bought in our Customer Center, in VAG service offices, many shops and kiosks and at ticket-machines at tramway- and subway-stops.

Single ticket
If you only want do ride one-way within Nuremberg - Fürth - Stein, then a single fare for 2,40 EUR (adults) or 1,10 EUR (children) is your ticket of choice. The ticket is valid for 90 minutes and a one-way-ride. You may change at stops or interrupt your journey as you please, but return-rides or round-trips are not possible.
Date and time of issue are being printed on the tickets at purchase, so don`t buy them ahead.
5-strips-tickets for Nuremberg/Fürth/Stein (fare level A)
The 5-strips-ticket is a discounted multi-trip-ticket which is offered for the pay scale area Nuremberg/ Fürth/ Stein. This ticket is exclusively valid in zones 100 and 200. The number of strips to be stamped depends on the number of trips and persons.
5-strips-tickets for short-distance rides
For short distances - mostly two or three stops - there is a special short-distance rate (adults: 7,10 EUR; children: 3,60 EUR).
Within Nuremberg, Fürth and Stein please stamp one strip per person, in direction of arrow, starting with the first strip.
Machines
to stamp your ticket can be found at stairs, escalators and elevators
descending to subway platforms. With busses and trams they are mounted
inside the vehicles, and with regional ("R-Bahn") and suburban
("S-Bahn") fast trains on the platforms and at platform-accesses.
10-strips-ticket
For the occasional traveller a 10-strips-ticket might be a good choice (adults: 9,70 EUR; children: 4,90 EUR). Depending on individual requirements it can be stamped for fare zones 2 through to 10. If several persons intend to use it at the same time, the according number of strips must be stamped for each passenger corresponding to the destination. Please stamp one strip per person, in direction of arrow, starting with the first strip.
DayTicket Solo
For only 4,80 EUR per day individual persons in Nuremberg, Fürth and Stein are mobile all day and allowed any number of rides.
Our "special": If you stamp your ticket on a Saturday, we`ll add the Sunday for free. Meaning you can travel the whole weekend without paying a single Cent more.
DayTicket Plus
If the whole family is on the move, it`s time for a DayTicket Plus.
It is valid for two adults and up to four children (under 18 years) for a day or a whole weekend! The DayTicket Plus for Zone A, valid in Nuremberg, Fürth and Stein only costs 8,00 EUR.
Two hints:
DayTickets Solo & Plus are valid immediately when you buy them at a ticket-machine. Date and time of issue are printed on, so don`t buy these tickets ahead. The DayTickets are valid only on the day of issue (and the following Sunday, if bought on a Saturday), they are not 24-hour-tickets!
MobiCard
With the transferrable MobiCard you can ride as often as you like within its fare zone. From 9 am onward you may even take one adult and up to four children (under 18 years) with you! The MobiCard is available for all fare zones in three different versions:
- 31-day-MobiCard 24/7 (around-the-clock)
- 31-day-MobiCard (valid after 9 am)
- 7-day MobiCard 24/7 (around-the-clock)
For example the fare within Nuremberg, Fürth and Stein is only 21,40 EUR for the 7-day-MobiCard
Solo 31
For all of you who are travelling solo, Solo 31 may be the ticket of choice. It remains valid for 31 days, and you are entirely free to determine the beginning of the validity period. Solo 31 is only available in combination with a "Verbundpass" (public transport association pass). These passes can be obtaines in our service offices (please don`t forget a passport photo).
In fare zone A (within Nuremberg/Fürth/Stein), for example, Solo 31 costs 61,50 Euros.
Annual subscription
The annual subscription is ideal for regular passengers. It is valid for twelve succesive months. To subscribe please fill in an order form with direct debit authorization and deliver it to one of our service offices including a passport photo. Please don`t forget to bring your passport or identity card.
Most easily you can apply for your subscription via the Internet:
Your "Verbundpass" (public transport association pass) and yearly token will then be sent to you. You`ll also receive the new token each year by mail.
The annual fare will be collected cashlessly in advance in twelve monthly sums or once a year.
In Nuremberg, Fürth and Stein an even more favourable subscription with "Ausschlusszeit" is available - meaning that it is not valid during rush hour in the morning on workdays (between 6 and 9 am Mondays through Fridays).
Abo 3 (subscription)
Abo 3 remains valid for 3 months and is perfect as a trial. This subscription will not - contrary to an annual subscription - be automatically renewed. If you want your subscription to continue, you`ll have to order a new one.
Abo 6 (subscription)
Abo 6 makes you mobile for six months at a bargain price - and can be used entirely according to your wishes, for example only during winter. Just like Abo 3 this six months subscription will expire after the validity period and must then be requested anew.
Annual subscription for pupils and trainees
Especially low priced and convenient tickets are available for pupils and trainees. Once bought, they are valid for a month in connection with a "Verbundpass" (public transport association pass).
Applying for a "Verbundpass" (public transport association pass)
You can get a Verbundpass in all our service offices. You have to fill in an order form (available, for example, at school offices), bring your passport photo and identification and will then receive your free Verbundpass at our service office. Pupils older than 14 years also need written confirmation from their respective schools. If you already own a Verbundpass, please mind the validity period! Pupils over 14 have to renew it at the beginning of each term.
How to get a monthly token
If the "free-of-charge" principle applies to your way to school, the school issues eleven monthly tokens (from September through to July of the following year). Self-payers (usually with the beginning of the 11th grade or trainees) have to buy a monthly ticket for each month.
Semester ticket
For students semster tickets are recommended. Once bought they are valid for three, respectivlely four months in connection with a Verbundpass. A place of study within the VGN-region is requisite for a semster ticket.
The semester tokens in connection with a Verbundpass for the fare zones Nuremberg, Fürth, Stein and Erlangen (depending on the type) are valid only while the university is in session. For the rest of the public transport association area the monthly pupil substrciptions are valid. The validity of semester tickets varies each year according to the periods the university of Erlangen/Nuremberg is in session. During summer term the semester tickets now are valid for one week longer, adding up to a total of 14 weeks without any surcharge.
Semester tickets and Verbundpass can be obtained at any VAG service office, from "Stadtwerke Erlangen" (public services Erlangen) and "infra fürth verkehr gmbh". Please bear in mind that semester tickets are only available at the points-of-sale of these three companies.
How to get a "Verbundpass" (public transport association pass)
You can get a Verbundpass in all VAG service offices, also at Erlanger Stadtverkehrs GmbH (ESTW, the local city transport company in Erlangen), at "infra fürth verkehr gmbh" and all DB (German Railways) points-of-sale. You have to fill in an order form (available also at our service offices), bring a passport photo, identification and student verification from the university and will then receive your FREE Verbundpass at our service office.
If you already own a Verbundpass, please mind the validity period! Students have to renew it after expiration.

Holiday Ticket
In summer, during school holidays in Bavaria, we are offering a HolidayTicket. It allows all pupils, students and trainees with a valid "Verbundpass" (public transport association pass; not necessary for children under 14) to travel freely Mondays through Fridays after 9am all over the public transport association area - according to their fancy and at super-low cost. In addition there is a Holiday-DayTicket Solo available, which is valid within the public transport association area for one work day after 9 am or for a whole weekend.
Exact Prices and validity period will be published shortly before the respective beginning of summer holidays!
Group Ticket
For groups who just want to share a single trip or round trip there is the GroupTicket. With this ticket the respective single fares for adults and children will be reduced by 50%. Minimum fare is for 10 adults. Group Tickets will be issued by our service offices.
Hotel Ticket
Many hotels in Nuremberg and Fürth are offering a HotelTicket for only 6,10 EUR. It is valid for a single person on two consecutive days and entitles to any number of of rides within the urban area of Nuremberg/Fürth/Stein.

Combined Ticket
You can ride toll free to a number of events, like theatre, concerts or sports events just with your respective entry ticket. The entry ticket must bear the imprint "Fahren mit der Eintrittskarte" (ride with your entry ticket) to qualify.
