Vehicles
It should pose few problems to access our modern vehicles, low-floor-trams, low-floor-busses and subways.
But please don`t be shy to aks our crews or other passengers for help if need be.
Subway
The platform edges are marked towards the rails by a 50-centimeters-wide tactile high-contrast warning surface, followed by a grooved tactile strip which is designed to alert visually impaired and blind passengers to the edge and help them orientate themselves.
Wheelchair users are advised to get in at the first door behind the driver. The driver will be happy to assist you boarding the vehicle. Thus the difference in elevation and the gap between car and platform edge will present no problem.
Within the cars all coming stops will be announced in time.
Buses
All VAG-busses are low-floor vehicles, thus making boarding and deboarding very comfortable. Additionally the busses will be lowered sidewise at stops ("kneeling"). To improve accessibility even further, some busses are equipped with folding ramps for wheelchair users.
Please board at the second door, here you`ll find sufficient space for a wheelchair. In this area we have installed a push-button with the wheelchair-symbol. If you press it, the driver will know immediately that you want to get out and you can leave the bus without hurry.
To provide better orientation for visually impaired passengers, grab-poles and steps in the door areas are marked bright red or yellow.
The next stop will be announced both optically and acoustically.
Tramway
We solely employ trams in Nuremberg which are equipped with at least one low-floor middle-car. Thus, even with trams getting in and out is facilitated considerably.
Special areas within the cars are designated for wheelchairs and baby carriages.
In trams the stops will also be announced both optically and acoustically.
