Taking your bicycle with you in VAG busses and trains
Getting in:
According to experience, the middle compartments of subways tend to be less crowded than the ends. If you enter here, you`ll find more space for yourself and your bicycle, and other passengers will not be hampered.
Be considerate: Please pay attention to other passengers while boarding and deboarding. Getting grease from a bicycle chain smeared on one`s trousers or dress will usually not be received very well.
Children under 14 with a bicycle have to be accompanied by an adult.
Where may my bicycle go?
In subways, tramways, suburban fast trains (S-Bahn), busses and regional trains (R-Bahn) you may always take your bicyle with you. In InterRegio trains of German Railway (DB) you are required to make reservations beforehand.
At which times may I take my bicycle with me?

Provided there is ample space you basically may take your bicycle with you in VAG busses and trains all around the clock. In case of doubt it is at the discretion of the driver. Surely you`ll understand that wheelchair users and children in their push chairs have priority. In R- and S-trains of German Railway (DB) the following applies: During rush hours between 6 to 8 am and 3 to 6:30 pm your bike has to stay behind, except if there is a baggage car. (Please mind the respective notes in VGN-timetables or call German Railway: 01 805/99 66 33)
How much is a bicycle fare?
Please buy a children`s ticket for your bicycle, according to the respective zone fare of the distance travelled. If you own a MobiCard or a DayTicket Plus you may take your bicycle with you instead of another person, but only up to a maximum of two bicycles per ticket. BUT - if you are (for example) a group of six persons all with their bicycles, you may still ride using TWO DayTickets Plus.
Small bicycles (20") and children`s bicycles are considered as luggage, so no extra-ticket is neccesary.
Where can I get a ticket?
Please buy a ticket before your ride. You can get it at ticket-machines, in service offices, from the bus-driver and in all points-of-sale of VGN.
